The Metro.

The Metro in Kiev is the main form of public transport there are three lines, red, green and blue. The red line is the most busy and longest with a total of 18 stops. It costs 50 kopeks for a metro token (Zheton). Cards can be purchased which are valid for one month from the beginning of each month. Half way through each month, 2 week cards are issued and cost half the price of a monthly card. There are different versions of these cards which allow combination of travel on the metro, trolley bus or tram. They are marked on the cards as "M" for metro,"T" for tram and "TP" for trolley bus. For instance a card marked with "M" and "TP" can be used on the metro and trolley bus - as pictured below.

The use of tokens and cards for the Metro are both in a similar manner. The difference is that at the tokens are placed in to the machines, to operate the turnstiles and the cards are swiped.
