Parks And Gardens Of Kiev City.

A.V. Fomin Botanical Gardens.

Location: 1, Comintern Street.  / Taras Shevchenko Boulevard.

Notes: Created by the Kiev University in 1839. Covers 22.5 Hectares and boasts over 8000 species of plants. There is a 30 metre high greenhouse situated in the garden, which houses the oldest palm trees in Ukraine. In 1935 it was given the name of the academician A.V. Fomin, who directed the garden for many years.

Mariyinskiy Park.

Location: Mikhail Grushevsky Street.

Notes: Marinskiy Park is perhaps the most featured park in Kiev. It has many water fountains, monuments and Mariyinskiy Palace.

The City Garden.

Location: Mikhail Grushevsky Street.

Notes: The Picture shows a stage in the park which was designed by architect V. Seryogin and built in 1982-1983.

Taras Shevchenko Park.

Location: Situated on Taras Shevchenko Boulevard about a 5 minute walk from Khreschatik.

Notes: Originally a dusty parade ground, but was turned into a park and opened in 1889. In the park there is a magnificent statue of Taras Shevchenko the poet, artist. Also can be found many people playing outdoor chess, a good childrens play area and a restaurant named "Taras". Across the street facing directly on to the Taras Shevchenko Statue is the Taras Shevchenko University.
