Notes: This station normally confuses
tourists as it is the only station on the red line where the doors open on the
right hand side of the train! A 20 minute walk south along the river edge will
lead to the. memorial to the legendary founders of Kiev.
Arcenalna.
Opened: 1960.

Notes: Arcenalna Metro Station is set far under the banks of the river Dnipro, is the deepest metro station in Kiev
and in fact the whole world, with two sets of escalators. It is
a well situated station being only a short trolley bus ride from
Pechersk Lavra. and The
Great Patriotic War Museum. There is a wonderful coffee shop just to the
right of the station.
Khreschatyk.
Opened: 1960.
Location: The main entrance (left picture) is situated on
Khreschatyk
Notes: It is the busiest metro station on the red line.
It also links with Maidan Nezalezhnosti Metro Station
(Blue Line), via tunnels and an escalator. There is also a
second entrance (right picture) to the station which is situated on
Instytutska
Street, behind Hotel Ukraina.
Notes: A very deep metro station with 2
escalators. The platform walls are decorated with busts of outstanding writers
and scientists of Ukraine and Russia. It is surrounded by the
A.V. Fomin Botanical Gardens.
